The state has a nursing shortage, due in part to the fact there aren't enough faculty at Rhode Island schools to accommodate all of those who want to study nursing. To help remedy the situation, the Rhode Island General Assembly appropriated $1.6 million over the last two fiscal years to pay for 13 additional teachers at the three state nursing schools. The funding underscores the need for nurses and the promise Providence holds for those pursuing nursing educations and careers.
